Contractor - Board Secretary

About the Role
The Board Secretary’s role is to support the CEO, Board, Research Grants Advisory Committee (RGAC) and Scientific Advisory Council (SAC) as required, to support the direction of the organisation. This is a contract role, with variable time commitment.
Key duties include:
- The statutory duties associated with ASIC & ACNC requirements (e.g. lodging annual reports; reporting changes to personnel);
- Management of Board & Committee processes, & the Annual General Meeting – preparation of agendas, drafting minutes, recording actions;
- Ensuring records are established and properly maintained;
- Ensuring compliance with relevant laws, rules and regulations and the HROz Constitution.
- Assisting the CEO & RAC Chair with management of the annual research grant process;
- Providing advice to the Board on governance issues;
About You (Skills and Experience):
Our ideal candidate will be someone who can demonstrate the following:
- Previous experience as a high quality board secretary, working closely with a Board;
- Excellent organisational and administrative skills;
- High level of computer literacy, including Microsoft Office Word and Microsoft Office Excel skills;
- High level of professionalism and ability to work independently;
- Knowledge, skills and experience in the areas of board governance and compliance
Completion of a Company Secretary Course or associated governance course will be highly regarded.
Time Commitment:
Variable, averaging 10 hours per month, spread over 11 months (not January). The candidate will be expected to work primarily from home. The workload is greatest around Board meetings, which are held 4 x per annum (typically February, May, August, November), and during the annual review of research grant & scholarship applications (October/November).
Remuneration: To be negotiated.

Digital Communications Officer – 0.8FTE

About the Role
Reporting to the Communications and Corporate Manager, the Digital Communications Officer has a focus on the implementation of the organisation’s Digital Communications activities across a variety of platforms.
Key duties include
- Design and implement the digital marketing and communications activities
- Work with Public Relations agency to implement a PR strategy for Heart Research Australia
- Support communications and public relations activities
- Supports the Communications and Corporate Manager to develop and deliver a range of engaging marketing materials including eDMs, web and social media content (including video), newsletters and annual reports
- Acquire and build relationships with potential case studies, and influencers
- Manage and build a database of case studies, ambassadors, social media influencers and corporate supporters
- Coordinate REDFEB and third party community fundraising events
- Support the delivery of community events
- Manage and maintain excellent relationships with the organisations wide range of stakeholders
- Organise workload, prioritise and schedule activities to meet deadlines
- Work closely with the Fundraising team to support direct mail, donor newsletters, emails and all other marketing materials as part of the donor care cycle.
- Support Philanthropy Manager to engage and grow high level donors and potential bequest leads.
About you (essential criteria)
Digital Communications focused, with excellent time and project management skills, the successful applicant will have an ability to work autonomously and as part of a small team.
- Strong understanding of digital media platforms (particularly paid advertising campaign management)
- Demonstrated skill developing engaging digital content
- Tertiary qualification or relevant experience in digital communications or relevant discipline
- Min 1 years’ experience in a digital communications, or marketing role
- Ability to research stories, conduct interviews and prepare articles for publication;
- Demonstrated superior written and oral communication skills;
- Demonstrated skill in the use of technology
- Proven ability to learn quickly and think quickly
- Results driven
- Excellent Project and Time Management skills
- Intermediate Microsoft Office skills (particularly Word and Excel)
- Excellent attention to detail
- Ability to multi-task and prioritise
- Ability to empathise and connect with patient supporters
- Experience working with external agencies
Desirable Criteria:
- Experience working in a not-for-profit environment
- Working knowledge of Campaign Monitor or other marketing platform
- Experience with Adobe creative suite
- Experience with WordPress
