Professor Gemma Figtree

Prof. Figtree is an Interventional Cardiologist, Professor in Medicine and Chair of the University of Sydney’s multi-disciplinary Cardiovascular Initiative. Prof Figtree and her multi-disciplinary research team have significantly progressed the BioHEART study, which is aiming to validate blood markers to significantly improve heart attack risk prediction. The aim is to have a simple blood test that could identify heart attack risk 10-15 years before someone experiences one. Prof Figtree will share her latest findings.

Dr Karan Rao

Dr Rao is an Interventional Cardiologist and Researcher. His innovative study is investigating a method to reliably predict patients at risk of heart block after TAVI, a minimally invasive alternative to open heart surgery for patients with aortic stenosis. He recently won the Early Career Research Prize for this research and is delighted to share his insights with you.
