REDFEB fun 2025

What do restaurateurs, musicians, miners, pharmacists and beauty queens all have in common? A commitment to raise awareness and education for heart research – all while having a lot of fun!

This year our REDFEB kicked off with a bang with the largest group ever joining us for the Northern Beaches SunRun. Our team stood out thanks to the generous assistance of Abbott Vascular who provided the team with new shirts and hats. It was perfect weather and everyone was in great spirits – an incredible effort – thank you to everyone involved!

It has been so heart-warming seeing all the wonderful events held for REDFEB! We had business, gyms, pharmacies, medical centres and personal events organised all over the country.

Healthworks also contributed $3 per health check booked in Dec–Feb. We’ve been flooded with amazing pictures of everyone in their RED and loving it!

We are incredibly grateful for all the wonderful support we have received for REDFEB. Thank you to everyone who donated, organised an event, shared their stories for media, and wore red. Together, we will change the future of heart disease.

Feeding the funding

We wrapped up REDFEB in style with Ambassador Alessandro Pavoni generously donating a special REDFEB event at his new restaurant, Cibaria in Manly, which also featured up and coming musician Ben Morgan.

Big shout out to our wonderful and generous ambassador Alessandro Pavoni. Alessandro is executive Chef and owner of Ormeggio at the Spit, Chiosco, a’Mare, Postino Osteria, and Cibaria in Sydney. Along with his wife Anna, they have been supporting Heart Research Australia ever since Alessandro had his first heart attack back in 2009, when he was only 36.

They are consistently generous in their support of Heart Research Australia and held a fundraising dinner at Cibaria during REDFEB with all profits going to Heart Research Australia.

We are so very grateful and appreciative of these special partnerships and thank Alessandro and Anna very much.

At the REDFEB Dinner we were delighted to have the singer, songwriter and saxophonist, Ben Morgan, offer to perform for us. A Northern Beaches local, Ben is gaining worldwide recognition for his unique blend of folk and blues music. We asked Ben what motivated him to support us.

“My first memory as a 3-year-old was walking under the dining room table to get sweets my grandad was holding out for me – while my mum’s back was turned! Sadly, soon after this, he died of a heart attack, and I always wished I had spent more time with him, as the family describes him as a real character.

So, I was more than happy to perform at the Heart Research fundraising dinner. I think it is important to raise awareness of heart disease in all its forms and to support those who come up with ways to treat and save those we love, so we can get to spend more time with them. A perfect example of this is my wonderful grandmother. At 87, she is still the rock of our family and the glue that holds us all together. But she lives with Atrial Fibrillation (AF) and has an enlarged heart, so really, she is still with us today due to medical advances that allow her conditions to be well medicated.

I am also conscious that heart disease doesn’t just affect older people, as my younger brother also had a heart operation for Supraventricular Tachycardia (SVT) which was affecting his life. After having the operation, it effectively eliminated his symptoms, and now nothing holds him back.

So, I am passionate to help get the message out about heart disease and to support those incredible researchers who are finding better treatments and cures.”

We are so grateful that Ben donated his time and if you wish to follow his music you can do so on:
