Heart Research Australia is thrilled to announce a significant commitment to groundbreaking cardiovascular research, funding 6 new and 14 ongoing projects for 2025 and beyond! This vital investment will accelerate advancements in heart disease prevention, diagnosis, and treatment, empowering researchers to tackle Australia’s leading cause of death.
We’re proud to support these innovative projects:
- Prof. Ravinay Bhindi: Detecting heart complications early following TAVI
- Dr. Chia-chi Liu: Could a simple urine test detect preeclampsia early?
- Dr. Jonathan Ciofani: Using genetic data to identify medical therapies for aortic stenosis
- Dr. Daniel Brieger (PhD): How do genes, proteins and immune cells interact in the development of or protection against cardiovascular disease?
- Cameron Evans (PhD): Testing a topical gel for peripheral arterial disease
- Lynne Hunt (PhD): Developing an online resource to help patients recognise their heart attack triggers.
Heart Research Australia carefully selects projects for funding through an exhaustive review process led by the Research Grant Advisory Committee and the Scientific Advisory Committee. This rigorous evaluation ensures that our funds are channelled into innovative and impactful research, advancing cardiovascular care and significantly benefiting patient outcomes. We’re dedicated to reducing the devastating impact of heart disease, which claims a life every 30 minutes in Australia.
A huge thank you to our generous donors and supporters who have made this happen. Without you, these projects would not be getting the support they need. Together, we are changing the future of heart disease.
