Funding cardiac research for 23 years
Our researchers have won international recognition for their achievements.
Since 1987, the Foundation has invested close to $17 million directly into research to prevent and treat heart disease – now and in the future.
In the 2008-09 financial year the Foundation gave over $2 million to heart research at Sydney's Royal North Shore Hospital (RNSH). A further $4.2 million is committed for the next three years.
Improving survival rates after heart attack
At RNSH, two pilot studies have reduced mortality rates from 30% to 2%. Australian centres are adopting these proven methods, in line with worldwide practice, to improve cardiac survival rates.
